Pregnancy Update: 27 Weeks

It's been a little while since I did a pregnancy update, so I figured I'd do one today.  I can't believe that I'm almost in my third trimester of pregnancy.  The past seven months have seriously flown by.

How Far Along: 27 Weeks

Size of Baby: A bunch of bananas

Gender: 100% Boy!

Weight Gain: Up about 14 lbs

Maternity Clothes: Maternity clothes are a must now,  I've even outgrown some of my early maternity clothes, and have graduated from an extra small to a small in all maternity wear.   I've had fun buying a few maxi dresses for this spring, I think those will be the most comfortable things to wear as it gets warmer and I get bigger.  I purchased this maternity tankini top this week, which is actually pretty flattering, and was happy to find that the majority of my pre-baby bathing suit bottoms still fit to go along with it.

Nursery: I'm having some serious issues committing to what curtains I want to put in there, and that's made me pump the brakes on all other progress in the room.  It seems like such a small decision, but I'm really struggling over it.  Simple or printed?  Blackout or not? DIY or no? Ugh, I just want them to be perfect, so can't decide.   I did manage to get the prints that we ordered framed and hung this week, so that's one thing I can cross off the list.

Movement: Yes, and all the time.  I feel the most movement when I get in bed at night and in the morning when I wake up, but I pretty much feel movement all throughout the day now, too.

Symptoms: Heartburn, like whoa.  If the saying about heartburn meaning your baby will have lot of hair is true, I think I may be birthing a baby gorilla in May.  I take Zantac 150 every 12 hours religiously, or my esophagus feels like it's on fire.

Sleep: Getting to sleep has not been a problem during any of this pregnancy, but lately staying asleep has been a challenge.  I'll wake up to potty in the middle of the night, and then my mind starts racing with things I want to do to the nursery, or things I should get done before baby arrives.  Taking a Unisom before bed has been a lifesaver, though.  I usually take half of the recommended dose, and it gives me just enough to sleep through the night.

Cravings:  Still lots of sweets and carbs, but I'm trying to be mindful of that.  I will get my glucose test results back later this week, so I've been very cognizant of the fact that I may be switching to a  low carb low sugar diet in the coming days.  I did buy a bag of jelly beans this week for Easter and haven't been able to get my hand out of the bag.  Oops.

What I Miss:  Mobility and agility.  I never realized what a blessing it was to be able to move around with ease and no aches and pains.  To be able to pop right out of bed or off the couch would be so great.  It currently takes me a solid minute to get up, and it's usually accompanied by grunts and profanity.  I attribute some of this to the pain I still have after my fall a few weeks back, but a lot of it has just come with my growing belly.

Best Moment This Week: Hearing Thompson's heartbeat on the sonogram at my last OB appointment.  The sound of that will never get old.

Looking Forward To: The weather getting warmer so I can finally wear some of my new maternity dresses.  My selection of clothing is pretty lean for this transitional weather.

  1. Those prints are so cute! Whatever you decide for the curtains will be perfect! The good news is that... if you really hate them you can change them out. Don't stress! :) Maybe get a couple options and hang them up to see. You could always return them :)
